April Harris' Healthe Trim Blog

April 26th, 2010 - 9 days left before the end of the challenge.  I'm going to be so sad for it to end.  But since I have finally found something that works, I will continue to use Healthy Trim until I've reached my ideal goal which is 100 pounds.  I'm excited for the final weigh-in to see how much our hard work has paid off and who the winner is, of course.  I'm pushing hard for that 1st place prize as we all are (hopefully).  We'll see on the 6th.  Tune in and wish me luck!

April 19th, 2010 - Hello Everyone...

So we're coming up on the end of the Healthy Trim Challenge and Healthy Trim has kicked this thing into high gear by surprising us with a prize!  Before, we all thought we were doing this for the kids and that was rewarding enough.  Now there's a chance that we might get some money out of this too, on top of everything else.  All I can say is WOW!  Let the competition begin.  I'm all for a little friendly competition so I will not be revealing my plan for the next two weeks.  However, it will be healthy!

On Saturday, Idella at Forever Fit gave us the oppurtunity to tell what doing the Race/Walk for Sickle Cell meant to us and I was surprised at the answers.  Everyone who did the walk was so in awe of the comaradie that we as a group have established.  We're all from different walks of life and were brought together with one common goal in mind, to lose weight and help the Bert's Big Adventure kids.  We had no idea that we would fall in love with the other participants.  I love this group of people.  I'm really going to be sad when this is all over, especially if we don't keep in touch with one another.  I'm really bad at keeping in touch with folks but I'm going to do my best because this is one group of people that I want in my life for the rest of my life.

I'm so priviledge to be apart of something that's so much bigger than myself.  Because it's not just about watching the pounds come off (which they are, by the way), it's about helping a great cause, embracing a new way of life, and meeting new people.  I'm excited about what I've gained from participating in this challenge.  And I believe that no matter who wins the money, we've all won something.  But the money would be nice too :) so I'm going to kick my workouts in high gear and continue on the diet that has been working for me.  We'll see how everything works out.

March 30th, 2010 - Hello all.  Today I have to keep it short and simple because I m extremely ill.  Last week was decent. I stuck to my diet and was really looking forward to working out with the group and getting on the official scale for our 60 day update. However an early morning road trip to the ER ruined that. I m going to be fine but I hate that I missed that considering how well I have been doing. But I can t change the past and I am definitely looking forward to the next 30 days. My 30 day plan: maintain my low carb/no sugar diet and hit the gym extra hard! We re in the final stretch. I have 30 more pounds to lose to reach my 90 day goal. GO HARD OR GO HOME!

WISH ME LUCK                        April

March 22nd, 2010 - Last week was a difficult week for me, time wise, so I wasn’t able to update my blog like I wanted to.  So this week, you guys get two weeks worth of stuff.

I’m really excited about what I’ve been accomplishing in this weight loss challenge.  I’m finding that my endurance and stamina is much better, better than it ever has been before and I’m feeling great.

I’m finally able to look in the mirror and actually see the affects of the Healthy Trim and exercising.  Yes, I have been dieting but I don’t like to think of it as “dieting”.  I’ve never been good at diets.  I know it’s completely mental but to me, dieting was the worst thing ever.  It meant depriving myself of the things that I liked and I simply refused to do that.  Look where that thought process got me lol.  But now, I’ve changed my mindset.  I don’t think of what I’m doing as dieting.  Instead I see myself as making a lifestyle change that I can live with.  I see it as making the healthier choice when it comes to the food I choose to eat.

I’m still not at the point where I can eat an egg-white omelet and enjoy it, but I’ve added 100% more fruits and vegetables to my diet, reduced my carb intake, and completely eliminated fried foods from my diet.  And I feel great.  The pounds are coming off and the more I push myself with exercising, the better I feel.  I can’t help but be proud of myself.

I can’t believe that I’ve actually found something that works for me!  This is really exciting and a monumental achievement for me.  When I first started this challenge in February, I set a goal for myself.  I wanted to lose 20 pounds by March 17, 2010, the day of the John Mayer concert.  And I totally blew that goal out of the water.  On March 17th, I had lost 27 pounds!  And for the first time in a long time, I felt completely confident when I walked into Philips Arena.  And I know that if Jeff Dauler had responded to my tweet and took me backstage with him to meet the man himself, I wouldn’t have been self-conscious at all.

I am truly and eternally blessed to have such an opportunity and I’m thankful everyday to Q100, Healthy Trim, the Forever Fit team, and everyone else who supports us as we continue on this journey.

Mar 8th, 2010 - Hey Everyone!

I'm really excited to say that I'm now down 24lbs on Healthy Trim.  Everything is still going well.  I really enjoy working out with the other participants and Matt on Saturdays.  And it was nice having Gary there last Saturday, with Matt being at the Oscars and all :)

I've never lost this much weight so quickly before.  It's an even better motiviation to keep going!  We've got a BBA Healthy Trim Challenge group on Facebook now for all the supporters and participants.

We work out with Idella at Forever Fit on Saturday and she gave us journals to write in.  I've never been good at writing in a journal.  I prefer my thoughts and feelings to be expressed in 140 characters or less on Twitter lol or on one of my 3 blogs but I decided that 2010 is going to be a year of changes, so why not start with this small but
important change.  So I've been writing in my journal daily, sometimes it's just inspirational quotes or song lyrics to get me through the day.  I've also been writing down everything I eat.  When you have to actually write down whatever you put in your mouth, it takes away the temptation of eating something you're not supposed to lol.

I am now starting my two a day workouts.  I like to go to the gym during my lunch break.  It eases alot of the tension from a stressful morning.  So for an hour, I do cardio and light weights.  But now I think I want to start swimming.  I'll try that today after work though.  I'll keep you posted.

Looking forward to another great week!  Staying positive and sticking to my diet!  Talk to you next week!

Mar 1st, 2010 - Good Morning!
I'm feeling great today, actually I had a great weekend and it's carrying over to this cold but gorgeous Monday.

Everything is still going great.  I know that I say that every week but I can't help it.  It's true.  I'm down 24lbs and this is going into week 4 of the challenge.  I've never lost 24lbs this quickly and I'm loving it!  Last night I put on a pair of skinny jeans and they
were loose in all the wrong places.  It was a great feeling!

We worked out with Idella at Forever Fit on Saturday and she gave us journals to write in.  I've never been good at writing in a journal. I prefer my thoughts and feelings to be expressed in 140 characters or less on Twitter lol or on one of my 3 blogs but I decided that 2010 is going to be a year of changes, so why not start with this small but
important change.  Idella wanted us to dedicate our journal to ourselves. I'm so used to writing out special dedications in my books to people that I love, but I've never given any thought to what I would like to say to myself.  But it ended up being a pretty good dedication, I must say.  I felt pretty special after reading it.

I had my first real test of willpower on Friday and then another on Sunday.  One of my co-workers brought in birthday donuts, coffee & juice for the office.  It wasn't as hard to resist as I initally thought it would be.  The true test was on Sunday at the Hawks game. I've never been to Philips Arena and not had a few beers and snacks.  That was the hardest test so far but I'm proud to say that I passed with flying colors!

Our workout at Forever Fit was GREAT!  On Sunday, my back and arms were a little sore but I'm not complaining.  The pain means that I'm moving and using muscles that I haven't in a long time and as long as I keep on moving, the pounds will keep coming off.  I'm looking forward to our Saturday workouts and I am now starting my two a day
workouts.  I like to go to the gym during my lunch break.  It eases alot of the tension from a stressful morning.  So for an hour, I do cardio and light weights.  But now I think I want to start swimming.  I'll try that today after work though.  I'll keep you posted.

Looking forward to another great week!  Staying positive and sticking
to my diet!  Talk to you next week!

Feb 15th, 2010 - So, I'm so excited to say that I've lost almost 8 pounds since my last update.  Healty Trim is amazing.  Even when I was sick, I had an amazing amount of energy.  Over the weekend - since it was Valentine's Day - I cheated a little on my diet and had some chocolate ice cream but I'll make it up in the gym today.

One thing I'm learning with the Healthy Trim is portion control.  My eyes have always been bigger than my stomach and I would normally only eat half of what I put on my plate.  Now I see myself wasting less food and still being full.  I love this stuff!

Walking is my main exercise as of now.  It may not seem like much but I've increased my pace on the treadmill and I can now walk a 20 min mile.  It's a big accomplishment for me.  I'm going to start intergrating some different workouts but for now, I walk a mile at lunchtime and two more after work.  I also have the Hip-Hop Abs dvd that I'm starting again.

Overall, I'm having a fun experience doing this challenge.  The encouragement I'm getting from my friends, family, co-workers, and the other challenge participants is what keeps me motivated.

Talk to you next week.

Feb 8th, 2010 - I've been taking Healthe Trim for 6 days.  So far, I can really see the change in my energy levels and it's working great to suppress my appetite.  I was sick with a bad sinus infection these last few days so I have not been hitting the gym like I've wanted to -couldn't really breathe on the treadmill lol!  I'm feeling a lot better now and will get back to my regular routine.

I take 2 Healthe Trim at 7am and I eat a light breakfast at 10:30 (normally it's fruit or yogurt).  I take another 2 Healthe Trim around 12:30 along with 2 Healthe Plex at lunch and that's usually a salad with a piece of grilled fish or chicken.  I haven't been really hungry around dinner time so usually my dinner is just a small salad or a piece of fruit. Water has become my best friend!  I drink about 4-5 16.9 oz bottles a day.  Normally a Starbucks addict, I haven't had coffee or any caffeine since last Tuesday.  I haven't had a caffeine headache or migraine yet.

I haven't weighed myself yet but I will do that this afternoon.
